An industrial city 100 miles north of Sydney, exports coal, wheat and sand.
There are 40 to 60 ships lying offshore continually waiting to be loaded. Sand is exported to Hawaii and Saudi Arabia. Coal mostly to Japan and wheat to many countries.
Australia even exports camels to some Middle Eastern Countries.

The world renowned Taronga Zoo Park is located on the shores of Sydney Harbour and is a favourite destination for most overseas visitors. The zoo is superbly situated about 20 minutes by harbour ferry from the city centre.

Another great zoo is located at Dubbo in New South Wales about 350 miles west of Sydney, accessible by train, car or coach. Dubbo zoo provides natural habitats for the animals on over 1000 acres of land.

We cruised the South Pacific Islands on the Fair Star cruise ship some time ago over ten days.
The most awe-inspiring site was when we left Sydney Harbour about 6pm, just at dusk and on the return about dawn tying up at 7am.

The renowned wine producing area in the state of New South Wales now boasts the extensive Hunter Valley Gardens.
This new attraction has magnificent gardens of numerous varieties as well as a magical garden depicting nursery rhymes for the children.

From Mackay we took a tourist boat to a floating platform anchored about 50 km offshore at the southern end of the reef.
Six people in rosters of six weeks continually man the platform. You can snorkel, view the reef in a glass-bottom boat as well as by helicopter.
We did all three over the two hours while the boat waited. The helicopter will take you back to the mainland if required.
