Qantas Airways - Australia's International Airline

3 flights a day to LA and return as well as many other destinations throughout the world and within Australia. Approximately 5000 visitors from the US fly with Qantas into Australia every week. On the 1st january 2000, Qantas pilots Captains John Dennis and Peter J. Smith flew the first flight of the new millennium over the South Pole

The name - Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services Ltd was formally registered in Brisbane on November 16,1920. This new company got airborne on January 31, 1921. In 1996 the Qantas Founders Outback Museum was opened in Longreach in Queensland where it all began and is well worth a visit to trace the long history of this great Australian Airline regarded as the safest in the world.

Air New Zealand

Initially Tasman Empire Airways Limited began with its first Tasman Sea crossing with Flying Boats in 1940 and on the 1st April 1965 changed its name to Air New Zealand. The NZ Government wholly owned Air New Zealand until 1989 when it was privatised. Air NZ is now gradually replacing 15 of their fleet with new Airbus A320s to be completed in 2006.

Air New Zealand fly to 36 destinations in NZ, Australia, South Pacific Islands and Internationally. Flying Air NZ is the best way to discover the South Pacific Islands. The islands of the South Pacific are unspoilt, mostly uncrowed, and, by world standards, almost undiscovered. And yet you'll find international class accommodation.
